It is essential that you give yourself credit when you improve if you want to keep personal self motivation strong. Self motivation means you are making a chance, which is always hard. One way to help use a motivational concept is to not reward yourself in a way which will go against your goal. If you are paying your credit card on time, do not go and spend money to make yourself feel good.

In the end, you need to give yourself a break. Do not let the wrong emotions cloud your judgment; do not be consumed with false expectations. Your initial efforts will not be your last or final efforts - you do not need to get it right the first time! Everyone, including you, is bound to slip now and again, but that doesn't mean failure.
